China Now 2008

EEA has been involved in a whole year of projects and events inspired by British contemporary and traditional Chinese culture and the lead up to the Beijing Olympics.

Chinese New Year saw us working at the British Museum and the O2 in Greenwich.

Chinese New Year at the British Museum:

EEA created a trail of Chinese zodiac animal lanterns around the Museum -

These printed silk and wood structures were created by EEA artists Jonny Stockbridge and Di Jones, (supported by Tracy Benner) with zodiac signs designed by Jamie Hewlett (Gorillaz and Tank Girl).

Chinese New Yearat The O2, Greenwich:

EEA and South East London's Chinese Community organised Chinese Dragon and Lion dancers, Tai Chi demonstrations, a gong orchestra with local school children and arts and crafts including calligraphy and Chinese lanterns.

Also featured were Chinese musicians playing and singing traditional music.

Commissioned by Trust Thamesmead.
