Treasurer

The Board of Trustees of the charity Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) is seeking a Treasurer to support the leadership and governance of the organisation as it enters an exciting new phase of development.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the contemporary arts and their place in society, who supports the ambitious artistic vision of EEA, and who has strong financial qualities to help take our Board forward into the future.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Commitment to the organisation.
  • A UK Qualification in Accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of Accounting.
  • Integrity, strategic vision and good/independent judgement.
  • A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as Treasurer and trustee.
  • Ability to take decisions for the good of the organisation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy.
  • An understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a charity/organisation.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a Treasurer.
  • Knowledge/interest of the type of work undertaken by the organisation.
  • A wider involvement with the voluntary sector.

Time Consideration:
4x Quarterly Board Meetings per annum.
4x Quarterly Finance Sub Committee/Task Group meetings (to which you will also Chair). These usually precede the Board meetings
1x AGM (Annual General Meeting), which is usually scheduled after a Board meeting
6-10 x Regular telephone or face to face support meetings.

Plus any additional meetings or Treasurer duties that may arise from time to time.

This is a VOLUNTARY position.
Location: Rothbury Hall, Azof Street, London SE10 0EF

The Board will review the expressions of interest, and then invite prospective individuals to meet with a sub-committee of the Board in mid July. We will aim to contact all applicants regarding interviews by 17 July. Interviews will be held at EEA’s base at Rothbury Hall, Azof Street, Greenwich London SE10 0EF.
