Children’s Areas

Vulture puppet on Children's Parade, WOMAD

EEA creates inspirational and interactive family friendly environments and provides a wide range of activities and workshop programmes using a variety of art forms that will appeal to children from early years to teenagers.

We have trained facilitators who create a welcoming and stimulating environment for children to engage with. All of our programmes and activities are designed around specific themes either invented by us or responding to a client’s brief.
We bring everything to the party if needed including event management, programming of sports and entertainment, site décor, creative play, storytelling, music and performance.

Commission us to create a carnival in a day accompanied by our amazing Giants and our street band or make an extraordinary environment with sculptures and sensory effects.

Our clients include the O2, London Mela, Liberty Festival, Newham Council, Coram’s Fields and WOMAD.

AnchorGulliver’s Voyage
A HUGE head turner! Gulliver is one of EEA’s giant mechanical puppets and he has wowed audiences across the UK. With his integral PA system he communicates spontaneously with children through an unseen performer on radio microphone. To accompany this gigantic traveller EEA provides a full day of activities including storytelling, making, circus skills and music.

Join our artists to invent and create a very a special tiny model town with bright shiny buildings, little puppet people and miniature trees, animals, cars... using loads of lovely clean recycled materials with brightly coloured, glittery treasures. Or create ships on hats so you can join in Gulliver’s journey. We also bring our musical marimbas, wonderful giant tuned percussion instruments that anyone can play and it always sounds tuneful.

Up In The Air

Water Garden
Jelly fish lampshades, fishes and nets create a sensory watery environment. Within the peaceful environment of a storytelling tent young people are be taken on a journey that engages them in issues associated with climate change and peak oil. In between storytelling sessions children make music using our tuned percussion instruments.

We provide a water play area led by a drama facilitator who leads children in water based multi sensory play using a range of interactive toys including a cascade activity centre from an approved education supplier.

We run arts and crafts activities for children and accompanying adults who are also encouraged to participate. Children have the option of creating a fish hat or a jellyfish puppet. EEA uses non toxic and child friendly materials for this activity.
A giant swan, surrounded by large decorative flowers, is the centrepiece in the water garden where a drama facilitator in character gathers stories, secrets and sounds from visitors.

The resulting recording is edited by a sound artist throughout the afternoon to create a watery soundscape. Children can also sit on the swan's back and be photographed by their accompanying adults as a memento of their visit to the Water Garden.

Trashcatchers Ball
This is an arts and crafts based activity area for 8 – 14 years olds which includes making jewellery, accessories, costumes, puppets and instruments out of recycled materials – trash. We source clean, child friendly materials that are also available at home.

Music facilitators create a carnival band using our trash drum kits and make junk trumpets and percussion with children and young people to take home.

Elemental Carnival
Ideal for Olympics themed events like the Torch Relay we bring our ready made Elemental Carnival costumes and our unique Sports puppets representing Earth, Air, Fire and Water to make a carnival in a day or as part of a more sustained project.

Children are supported by artists to make their own costumes, puppets and banners to parade round their local park or playground or the town centre if part of an organised event. EEA will also programme complimentary health and wellbeing activities via local providers.
