I am Phoebe Grudzinskas and I began my placement at EEA whilst I was studying an MA in Applied Theatre at Goldsmiths, University of London. I began my placement in April and worked with EEA until August. In the placement I wanted to get an experience of all the different aspects that make an arts organisation work. I began by helping with project management on the Newham Carnival, from that I was taught how to research into funding applications and made my own.
Alongside office and administration work, I also helped out creatively. I assisted facilitators on the Lounge Project for Wandsworth Arts Festival in Roehampton. For Newham Carnival, I walked the carnival route with one of the community groups which was a definite highlight of my time with EEA. So much colour, laughter and dancing on the Newham streets with the community. It really showed me what EEA was all about. Finally, I worked with them on their summer school with Corelli College, called SONAR. My experience with EEA has laid a great foundation of experience for working in the arts and I feel that I have become part of the EEA family.
