Arts Lab

The Arts LAB is about exploring the experimental nature of what happens when two art forms collide with one another, creating a cross-art form fusion.

What happens when you mix dance with spoken word, or drama with shadow puppetry, or visual art with clowning? We’re looking for keen, creative and curious minds to help us experiment in order to create a new kind of performance.

These experiments will be led by our team of artists and theatre makers and across the week participants will get the opportunity to explore first-hand 2 chosen art forms and what happens when they mix with one another. At the end of the week, young people will create an outdoor performance which will take place in a local public space, from parks, city centres, galleries, museums and anywhere in-between!

Arts LABs will run 10.00am - 3.30pm daily and will take place at our base in Rothbury Hall during:

  • Autumn Half Term: Monday 24th - Thursday 27th October 2016
  • Spring Half Term: Monday 13th - Thursday 16th February 2017
  • Summer Half Term: Tuesday 30th May - Friday 2nd June 2017

“It was so different and unique. I think it gives us teenagers a chance to really express ourselves.”

“I thought that it enabled us to come up with new and creative ideas that we were able to combine together and develop the collaboration as a whole group rather than working individually.”
