Something Wishful

Friday 12th December

The spectacular closing celebration for Cheshire’s Year of Gardens 2008.

Inspired by our visit to the Loy Krathong Festival in Thailand last November, we will work with Cheshire communities to create a beautiful celebration with floating illuminated gardens and wishing shrines on the River Dee in Chester for the finale of the Cheshire Year of Gardens. Thousands of ‘wishes’, made by local communities and artists will be launched into the river as part of the celebrations which are based on the Loy Krathong or floating candle ceremony.

Commissioned by Chester Performs and supported by Cheshire County Council in association with Liverpool City of Culture.
