Magic Mela at the London Mela

Sunday 8th August 2010

Child in face paint making paper volcano

Magic Mela is for the young and young at heart. It's the place to be playful or peaceful.

The Magic Mela is a special collaboration between the London Mela and EEA, leading lights in participatory outdoor events for 30 years. EEA will be featuring its newly commissioned stilt walking costumes that represent the myths and legends of Asia, and creating the children’s play area.

The Magic Mela will keep you surprised with fascinating outdoor theatre and circus including Islands - a stilt performance featuring spectacular costumes specially created and designed by EEA. Look out for the Tickly Tentacled Octopus, the Resurrection Bird and the Mangrove of Extinction.

The children's play area, for under 5's is an opportunity to transform trash into a beautiful carnival costume to wear on the Tropical Island Parade at 3.00pm, or to make a memento to take home that will remind you to recycle and reuse.
