Boishakhi Mela Parade 2017

Boishakhi Mela is Tower Hamlet’s annual celebration for the Bangladeshi New Year and is a feast of activities, gorgeous food, music and dance from local and international artists

EEA’s incredible artist team have been out and about running workshops with schools’ women’s groups and girl guides creating wonderful hand held masks and head dresses, flags and puppets for the Boishakhi Mela Parade that heralds the start of the Mela. See all this and hundreds of revellers following our unique mechanical Elephant, a fierce Bengal Tiger peeping out of the jungle and a special musical float entitled ‘Meet me under the Mango Tree’. The parade will wind its way through Brick Lane and the heart of Banglatown finishing at the Boishakhi Mela Site in Weavers Fields
