Eltham Lights Up

18th November 2010

Illuminated earth giant

Old Father Time sheds some light on the past, present and future at Eltham’s annual winter festival.

EEA’s five metre high giant mechanical puppet, Old Father Time, will lead the procession with over 600 children and their families carrying lanterns representing the past, present and future. Children and young people will design these handmade illuminations inspired by local history, celebrating the diversity and creativity of local people and looking forward to 2012 and beyond in a celebration of invention and communication.

The pupils felt that they had really achieved something to be proud of and also felt a real sense of belonging to and contributing to a community event

I was excited at the prospect of being able to use such every day materials to create such finished products
