Romford Celebrates in Style!

Working with schools and local community groups we will be creating a spectacular carnival procession and a dynamic musical opening to the 2010 Romfest on 26 September.

The theme of the procession is “world carnival” linking in with the Grand Union Youth Orchestra’s project From Silk Road to Carnival.

16-20 August – Carnival Workshop Week

The project kicks off with a Carnival Workshop Week at Fairkytes Arts Centre 16-20 August.

This holiday scheme is open to children aged 8 -14. Creative practitioners from EEA and Grand Union Orchestra will collaborate to create visual art, performance and musical workshops that allow young people from Romfest to explore their personal relationships with their local environment.

The project is inclusive and will celebrate the rich diversity of Romford's community.

20-24 September Focussed Week of Schools Workshops

Artists and musicians will work with Abbs Cross and Francis Bardsley Secondary Schools to create costume, music and mobile art works for the Romfest World Carnival.

Primary feeder schools for both schools will be invited to participate - encouraging cross year group working and peer support.
