EEA takes Transformation to the streets of London...

In 2010 EEA's theme for The Mayor's Thames Festival is Transformation. We will be working with The Street Arts Academy and A2 Arts to create dynamic new performances for the night time procession - combining visual arts, music and performance with one of EEA's giant creations to celebrate the transformative power of recycled materials.

In August 2010 EEA will be running two separate summer schools, working with children and young people aged 8-19 to explore the art of celebration through a multitude of art forms. We will be working in partnership with Kidbrooke Secondary School and Thomas Tallis Secondary School, to run a Transition Summer School for their year 6 and 7's.

Developed with young consultants from both schools, it will offer pupils the opportunity to meet potential new class mates, teachers and friends before they start secondary school - aiming to ease the transition they are about to make. The summer school is set in 2075 at a time when our resources are running low and we have only recycled materials from which to create art work, costumes and musical instruments! Participants will be creating giant mascot puppets, mobile percussive rigs, street performance and costumes to demonstrate to the audience how we can all make do and mend.

We will also be bringing participants from our Street Arts Academy Summer School, who will have been working at The Imperial War Museum in August to devise an innovative piece of interactive street theatre to ensure that the audience are truly involved in the festivities.

Accompanying these creative young people, EEA's Binbot will be making a guest appearance.

12th September 2010 - Noon-10pm from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge and beyond
